Young lily pads toward the Light

I took my Argus 75 film camera to Crosswinds Marsh. It’s a fun camera that I bought for $10 at an antique store and the images have a unique look to them, if/when any of the photos actually turn out into something decent. This image of young lily pads under a blue spring sky with the glow of the sun above, and along the horizon, is one of those images from that camera I like.

Lily pads on the sun soaked marsh

Standing on the boardwalk and enjoying the late summer morning at Crosswinds Marsh, I enjoyed the sun glaring on the water as I looked at the lily pads and underwater plants.  To emphasize the contrast of the bright sunlight reflection and the soft shadows underneath, I chose to present the image as black and white.  There’s a peaceful play happening between the lights and darks.

The sand bar sound

These swans shown bright in the morning sun against the marsh water.  I pushed the contrast in this image to give an almost angelic quality to the swans while holding onto the soft details within the darker passages.

Alex and Danielle at the Fort Worth Zoo

2015_Alex_Danielle_Zoo_and_Dinner-0369a

After the wedding ceremony, we all went to enjoy the Fort Worth Zoo.  Here, Alex and Danielle lead the way as we strolled.  It was a perfectly beautiful sunny afternoon.  Not the typical wedding reception or afterglow party, and that made it all the more special because we all were part of something Alex and Danielle enjoy doing.  It was their day, indeed!

I have no title for this picture, as I have not been able to caption yet the joy and the relationship between my son, Alex, and new daughter-in-law, Danielle.  The fun they had during their wedding ceremony is a window, albeit small, into the depth of their happiness and love for each other.
